For Candace, it was eczema. Stubborn, uncomfortable, and made worse by every mainstream cream she tried — the kind loaded with numbers she couldn’t pronounce and ingredients she didn’t trust. So in 2009, surrounded by olive trees on a small grove in Waiwera, New Zealand, she decided to make something better.
With a ready supply of fresh olive oil from the grove and a lifelong interest in natural health, Candace started experimenting with handcrafted balms. No synthetic chemicals. No numbers on the label. Just honest ingredients that she understood and her skin could actually use. The eczema that had driven her to the kitchen bench? Gone.
From New Zealand to Australia — and Better Than Ever
When Candace made the move to Australia, the balms came with her — and so did something precious: New Zealand’s finest beeswax and Manuka honey. Both remain in every SkinCandy product to this day.
Manuka honey isn’t just a buzzword here. New Zealand Manuka honey is one of the most naturally antibacterial, skin-nourishing substances on earth — and having access to the real thing, brought straight from New Zealand, is something Candace has never compromised on.
In Australia the range grew. New ingredients found their way in — native Australian botanical oils, hemp seed oil, shea butter — each chosen for what they do for skin, not for what they cost or how long they extend a shelf life. The philosophy stayed exactly the same as it was in that olive grove: if it has a number, it doesn’t belong.
